Torrential Downpour

This track was written in response to the inauguration of Donald Trump

All we really wanted
was a nice steady drizzle
To keep down the dust
and cool off the sizzle

When the clear blue sky
starts to lookin’ this dense
Then you know you’re in
for a good solid rinse
The weatherman up and quit
cause he never saw it comin’
His forecast was “clear”
so get your fun in the sun in

Soaked to the core
before he could even close the door
This one’s looking to be
a torrential downpour
Looking for any place
that’s safe to duck in
They’ll all be wonderin’
where the hell you been

Now were floating off the road
as the curb disappears
Brace yourself folks
as the apocalypse nears
I spend most every day
hiding under my rain jacket
If you have SCUBA gear
then you’ll want to unpack it

We got quite a bit more
than we bargained for
And now there’s no escaping
this torrential downpour
It never really stops with the
pouring down
Washed out all the drinking water
in my hometown

It’s enough to give you
the bone chilling shivers
When you’re dragged under the tow
of a mighty raging river

Over the shrieking sound
of a military air horn
we’ll have to come together
to ride out this storm

It’s not like we haven’t been through
all this before
And it surely won’t be
the last torrential downpour
