New Years in Tucson

This was written about a holiday road trip to Tucson, Arizona.

-----( verse )----------------------------------
Flying down the interstate
traveling with my soul mate

In a sporty red time machine
no dirty dishes, or litter box to clean

One step ahead of a deep freeze
heading for a warm Arizona breeze

In Tucson it’s seventy degrees
with cactus the size of trees
( A, D, E )////

-----( verse )----------------------------------
Unplug the alarm clock radio
on this trip, we’re waking up slow

With all this time to converse
in a parallel universe

From this point of view
strolling down Fourth Avenue

A whole new scene
takes me out of my daily routine
( A, D, E )////

-----( refrain )----------------------------------
I'm a natural inhabitant
at a downtown establishment

Not your average saloon
at 2pm on a Tuesday afternoon

Bring in the New Year
come home with a souvenir

It’s a clean slate
on my favorite calendar date
( E, D, A )////
